On Saturday morning, children and parents streamed down the aisles to experience the circus firsthand. The pre-show featured many of the circus
performers such as juggling clowns, high flying Chinese acrobats, and Brazilian stilt walkers. The crowd was encouraged to try out various props for the show, such as balancing balls, juggling hoops, and walking on the tight rope. The highlight of the morning was the 8,000 lbs. Asia, who is not only a circus performer but a talented painting pachyderm. Asia amazed people with her ability to hold a paint brush. “She is using her trunk to paint!” said a young girl named Katie, who was perched on her father’s shoulders for a better view. A drawing for Asia’s artwork will take place during each show and one lucky audience member will take home this one of a kind piece of artwork.
As the pre-show ends, performers prepare to for their acts backstage. Acrobats, clowns, and animals fill the hallways behind the curtains waiting patiently for their turn in the ring. What an amazing group of performers! Witnessing this amazing show first hand, one can see how the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus has been performing nationwide since 1884.
